  1. Original mono pressing on the deep groove 6-eye label. Label variation: album title and artist name each written on 2 lines (4 lines total) above the spindle hole and the small Columbia "eye" symbol is to the bottom-left of the circled "LP" at bottom of labels/5().
  2. Recorded in mid in the then-burgeoning hard bop style, 'Round About Midnight is and has remained one of my favorite Miles albums of all time. Backed by John Coltrane on tenor sax, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums, this album is a veritable who's who of jazz superstars/5().

  4. Released on March 18th, , 'Round About Midnight initially elicited mixed reviews, but it has aged very well, with critic Eugene Holley Jr remarking that "The stand-out track is Davis's Harmon‑muted reading of Thelonious Monk's ballad, 'Round Midnight', which is still a Miles standard bearer.
  5. Miles Davis was so smooth that he along with Coltrane and buddies made veteran musicians look rough around the edges. Round About Midnight is exactly the type of album that lives up to the hype. Like a true classic, this album makes you want to listen to it over and over again and each time you seem to discover something new.8/10(1).
  6. Music this good requires reissue and invites special packaging. Most of the material on the second disc of the Legacy Edition of 'Round About Midnight, however, has never been released, we are met with pleasant surprises along with a reissue of some of Miles Davis.
  7. It was with his interpretation of “’Round Midnight” in the presence of its composer Thelonious Monk at the Newport Jazz Festival that Miles Davis convinced George Avakian to include him in the Columbia catalogue. Coming out of a long depression, Miles went from working with small independent record companies to a very large firm.
